Objectives
Upon completion of the course students will be able to:
Describe the market for real estate and condominiums, with a special emphasis on the market for forest and farm estates.
Describe and apply the law on real estate brokerage, the principle of sound estate brokerage, and other legislative aspects of the trade.
Describe the process of real estate brokerage and its actors, roles and responsibilities.
Understand and describe real estate brokerage in an international perspective.
Content
The course describes and provides insights into the markets for farms, private homes and condominiums regarding actors, authorities and other organisations and their respective roles. The laws on real estate brokerage, marketing, discrimination, and other legislation of relevance to the work is reviewed in practical application. A great emphasis is dedicated to the main components of real estate brokerage, from the inception of the mission to its accomplishment with the final payment, moral and ethics, international brokerage. Specific aids in the work like IT support, information system handling and GIS are given an overview. The application of behavioural sciences in brokerage, how client relationships are built and how negotiations are carried out, furthermore how psychologically sensitive situations may be handled. Written examination, approved assignments and seminars within the course are compulsory.

Approved examination, approved assignments and participation in compulsory corse events.
- If a student has failed an examination, the examiner has the right to issue supplementary assignments. This applies if it is possible and there are grounds to do so.
- The examiner can provide an adapted assessment to students entitled to study support for students with disabilities following a decision by the university. Examiners may also issue an adapted examination or provide an alternative way for the students to take the exam.
- If this syllabus is withdrawn, SLU may introduce transitional provisions for examining students admitted based on this syllabus and who have not yet passed the course.
- For the examination of a degree project (independent project), the examiner may also allow the student to add supplemental information after the deadline for submission. Read more in the Education Planning and Administration Handbook.
