The Swedish FAO committee invites you to a seminar highlighting the importance of multi-sector cooperation to achieve the Sustainable Development Goal 2, making sustainable and nutritious food accessible for all.
More than 820 million people in the world suffer from chronic hunger. Most of whom live in rural areas, depending on agriculture for a significant part of their livelihoods. Meanwhile, obesity and malnutrition are on the rise.
Every year the World Food Day highlights the fight against global hunger and undernutrition. During the last three years the number of people who are undernourished in the world has increased, despite previous positive trends. Real political commitments, bolder actions and the right investments are needed to achieve Zero Hunger by 2030 – a goal the world committed to in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. This year’s The State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World Report (SOFI) underscores that ending hunger will require greater efforts and integrated approaches that protect the most vulnerable.
As part of the global celebrations of World Food Day 2019 the Swedish FAO Committee invites you to participate in a seminar on October 22. The overall purpose of the seminar is to stress the importance of multi-sector cooperation to achieve the Sustainable Development Goal 2, making sustainable and nutritious food accessible for all.
The seminar will offer a Swedish perspective on global food security. We will discuss how to jointly fight hunger and ensure food security for the world’s growing population. What solutions are necessary to achieve Zero Hunger, a goal paramount to the global sustainability?
