The Global Challenges University Alliance (GCUA 2030) is proud to announce the GCUA 2030 award. The award is established to encourage high quality research of relevance for sustainable global development.

GCUA 2030 is a network of university partners from across the globe, representing different disciplines and with a key objective to equip the next generation of researchers, teachers and academic leaders with knowledge, tools and networks that will strengthen their capacity to work across disciplines and conduct translational research.

The prize sum is 4000 EUR for the winner and 1000 EUR for the second place. The prize winners will be given the opportunity to present their research in a GCUA 2030 webinar.

Eligible candidates are PhD students or those who defended their thesis in 2020 at one of the GCUA 2030 member universities.

Each member university can nominate up to three candidates for the prize. Send your nominations to GCUA@slu.se with i) a summary of the research project in English (max 400 words), ii) a motivation of how the research contributes to sustainable development including potential for impact (250 words), and iii) a video presentation in English summarising the project in a popular scientific way focusing on how the research contributes to sustainable global development. The video should be maximum two minutes. We recommend that English subtitles are included.

Deadline for submission of nominations is 10 October 2021 (12:00 PM Central European Time). Note! New date.

The final winner of the GCUA 2030 award will be selected by an international expert panel and announced later during 2021.
