Funding for a new project on leaves as spore traps

Published: 15 December 2016

Anna Berlin from the Department of Forest Mycology and Plant Pathology has received almost three million SEK for her project "Leaves as spore traps for improved forecasting methods" from the Swedish farmers’ foundation for agricultural research.

In the project, Anna will examine how crop leaves can be used as spore traps. The objective is to capture and analyze the things that get caught on the crop and affects the plant. The project builds on a previous grant from the foundation on molecular detection of fungi in spore traps. The result will be relevant for all crop growers.

– In the long term, I hope that this new project will lead to a greater understanding of the life cycles of harmful fungi and the factors that influence their development, says Anna Berlin.
