Fish as an environmental indicator is the topic of a newly published report (in Swedish) from the Department of Aquatic Resources at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences. The report describes how and why fish react to a variety of environmental and biological perturbations, including acidification, eutrophication, climate change, pollution, invasive species and fishing.

  • fish is a good environmental indicator
  • survey fishing with stardardized methods build up a knowledge bank
  • on behalf of the Swedish Agency of Marine and Water Management and the County Administrative Boards we coordinate the national and regional environmental monitoring of fish in Swedish waters
