SEK 2.4 million for finding methods for measuring without using animals

Published: 27 November 2017

The Swedish Research Council has granted funding for the project "Alternative methods for evaluation of developmental toxicity". The total amount granted is SEK 2.4 million distributed over three years.

The main applicant is Ylva Sjunnesson at the Department of Clinical Sciences, and the project has been granted funding from the Swedish Research Council's call "Project grant for the development of methods for limiting and refining animal experiments (3R)".

The project's aim is to develop a new method in which toxic effects on early embryonic development can be assessed without using animals. The final goal, which is beyond the scope of this study, is to completely or partially replace the need for using animals in toxicological trials.
