Who eats whom: Operational food-web indicators for marine ecosystems

Published: 30 March 2017

A global perspective on operational food-web indicators for marine ecosystems to sustain the development of an Ecosystem-Based Management for healthy oceans brought together experts from around the world to evaluate food-web indicators that represent both structural, functional, and resilience aspects of ecosystem dynamics

Food-web indicators that were linked to the resilience of marine ecosystem need further development; while for example primary production required to sustain fishery, and integrated trophic indicators, were among the operational food-web indicators included in the final selection.

The results from the study Towards ecosystem-based management: identifying operational food-web indicators for marine ecosystems, with SLU Aqua participation are published in the ICES Journal of Marine Science.
