Published: 24 May 2017

Members of Sidas Senior Staff Association visited SLU on 4 May to learn more of SLU of today and specifically it´s global activities. The visit was arranged together with Sidas previous staff member Inge Gerremo, DVM hc and Senior Adviser to SLU Global.

A visit was made to the Centre for Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science guided by Professor Ulf Magnusson, who also informed about today´s development cooperation in the animal husbandry sector. The Director of SLU Global, Professor Anders Malmer, gave an exposé over today´s activities of the University and especially those related to developing countries.

As Dr Karl Bruno´s recent PhD-thesis, Exporting Agratian Expertise shows, there has been a longstanding relationsship and close cooperatrion between SLU, it´s predecessors he Colleges of Agriculture, Veterinary Sciences and Forestry and Sida over more than 50 years. The visitors were informed that such close cooperation still goes on, adapted to present needs, and has a great potential to increase in the years to come in connection with Sweden´s efforts to fullfill it´s obligations to Agenda 2030 and the Paris Agreement on Climate Change as well as the overriding need to produce enough food and fibre in a sustainable way in developing counties.
