New doctoral thesis on the consumer and the green market

Consumption and consumers' role often come into focus when talking about the growing environmental problems and climate change. Ingrid Stigzelius at the Stockholm School of Economics points out that consumers are both seen as the source of the problems and as the solution of the problem. But what can we expect from consumers? Is it their choice that leads society towards sustainable production and consumption of food?

It is the interaction between a number of actors who create consumption and when the circumstances surrounding food consumption change, consumers also change their potential for making green choices. The consumer is both a co-producer in the consumtion landscape and a creator of norms within this landscape.
