Seminar about sustainably farmed fish attracted many participants

Published: 22 October 2019

The seminar ”Does sustainably farmed fish exist – and if so, can you label it?” organized by SLU Aquaculture and SLU Ekologisk produktion attracted many students and researchers and some external participants.

At the seminar, Markus Langeland, aquaculture researcher at SLU, and representatives from KRAV, WWF, Swedish Sigill and ASC (Aquaculture Stewardship Council) talked about fish farming, sustainability and the future of an industry that is relatively small in Sweden but has great potential to grow. Both in lakes, in the sea and on land.

All invited speakers pointed out the need for more research, increased cooperation and networking between the industry, researchers and environmental and sustainability organizations.
