Two researchers from the Department of Animal Breeding and Genetics have been granted funding within the areas of Animal protection and animal welfare as well as in Digital transformation of the food system.

One of the researchers is Lars Rönnegård, who earlier this year was chosen as Beijer-researcher. He has now received finding for the project Precision livestock breeding – improving both health and production in dairy cattle within the call for projects in Digital transformation of the food system

The project is connected to SLU:s infrastruture Gigacow and the Beijer Laboratory for Animal Science (BLAS).

Lars Rönnegård has also received funding within the call for projects on Animal protection and animal welfare

"This is very inspiring. Now I get the possibility to build a research group with focus on the social interactions of cows," Lars Rönnegård comments.

Dirk-Jan de Koning was awarded with funding for the project New digital and genetic tools to reduce keel bone damage in laying hens within the call for Animal protection and animal welfare.
