On March 13 the Baltic Sea Centre organized a breakfast seminar about emissions of hazardous substances in cities within the Baltic Sea area. One of the speakers was Martyn Futter from the Department of Aquatic Sciences and Assessment. The seminar was filmed and is available at the Baltic Sea Centre's website.

At the breakfast seminar the EU research project NonHazCity was presented. NonHazCity was an EU-project running 2016–2019 with SLU as one of the partners. The aim of the project was to demonstrate possibilities of municipalities and wastewater treatment plants to reduce emissions of priority hazardous substances and other pollutants from small scale emitters at urban areas that cannot be reached by traditional water treatment and enforcement techniques. NonHazCity included 10 municipalities in the Baltic Sea Region: Stockholm, Västerås, Turku, Pärnu, Riga, Kaunas district, Silale, Gdansk, Lübeck, Hamburg.
