Published: 18 June 2019

SLU is one of the three academic partners of the M21 initiative – Malmö for the 21st century –a joint venture that takes advantage of Malmö's strength to develop urban innovations in order to meet the future society and its challenges.

Alnarp Campus as a potential test bed site

By end 2019 SLU and SLU Urban Futures envision to invite partners and interested stakeholders to meet in a workshop on how SLU Alnarp Campus could become a visionary test bed in the international M21 exhibition. Focus will be on how landscape planning, design and management can reframe problems and deliver approaches to support the United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals.

At a conference in May called Urban Innovation, Bengt Persson from SLU presented Alnarp Campus as a test bed site – a physical site in an academic setting full of potentials for urban research and innovation with the headline The dense blue-green city.

M21 is a joint venture with the aim to develop a think tank and test bed for urban innovations with Agenda 2030 as the basis. In 2021, the solutions will be presented in a broad and public international urban sustainability exhibition.
