Professor Per G Berg has passed away

It is with deep sadness we announce that Professor Per G Berg passed away on March the 29th 2021, at the age of 67.

Per G Berg began his career as a teacher and researcher at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) in Uppsala 1979. He obtained his PhD at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences in 1986. He worked as a researcher at the Institute for Future Studies, in Stockholm from 1986 to 1992.

In 1993, Per returned to SLU in Uppsala as a researcher with focus on sustainable communities in Sweden and the Baltic Sea Region, functional density, vertical density, blue-green infrastructure, urban-rural interactions, and ecovillages.  He developed the PEBOSCA framework, used by colleagues and students in their research about sustainable communities. In 2006, he became professor in Landscape architecture at SLU. He stayed committed to continue the work that he loved, actively collaborating with colleagues and teaching students, always ready to support, share and listen. Per was a highly appreciated researcher also outside academia, and well recognized internationally.

Anyone who wishes is welcome to contribute to a memory book. The book is placed at a table in the Department's premises. You can also contribute to the book by sending your words to: memory.of.perberg@slu.se. Your words will be printed and pasted into the book. The memory book will later be handed over to the family of Per G Berg.
