Published: 03 May 2022

Current and future collaborations were discussed when Tony Simons, the Executive Director of CIFOR-ICRAF visited SLU on 25 April.

CIFOR-ICRAF evolved after the merging of The Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) and the International Centre for Research in Agroforestry (ICRAF). CIFOR-ICRAF prioritises collaborative activities dealing with a climate in crisis, transforming food systems, deforestation and biodiversity loss, always taking into account issues related to governance, gender, justice and well-being, issues that a number of SLU activities are also focusing on.

Tony Simons was hosted by Ylva Hillbur, Pro-Vice Chancellor of International relations, and Sara Gräslund, Head of SLU Global. Besides the fruitful discussions on collaboration, a new Memorandum of Understanding between the two institutions was signed during Simons visit to SLU, re-confirming the strong intention to work together in several commonly identified areas of interest.
