New, natural antibiotics in collaboration with Ultupharma AB

A collaboration with the aim to develop new, natural antibiotics. The first patent applications were submitted after only a few months.


One Health Sweden

One Health Sweden is a collaboration between researchers focusing on zoonoses. SLU is part of the main network. Lotta Berg, from the Department of Animal Environment and Health was network chair during 2015.


Agriculture for Food Security is a programme financed by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency, concerning infections and animal health, etc. The work is being coordinated by SLU Global and Sofia Boqvist, from the Department of Biomedical Sciences and Veterinary Public Health, is team leader. The programme started at Ultuna in February 2016.


Lotta Berg on “Dokument inifrån” on SVT

in December 2015. The documentary was called “Världens bästa kyckling” (the best chicken in the world) and they discussed the issue of antibiotic resistance. The programme could be seen on SVT Play until 14 June 2016. Lotta Berg, Professor at the Department of Animal Environment and Health, participated.

 


The Centre for Global Animal Diseases (CGD) at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science will expand research on and increase its commitment to the field of contagious animal diseases of global importance, which allows the university to begin discussing the issues relating contagious animal diseases of global importance.


Global Challenges University Alliance

The Global Challenges University Alliance is an SLU initiative aiming to gather the top universities on every continent to discuss issues concerning food security, bioenergy, sustainable urban development and climate.


 

Survey – dairy farmers’ attitude to antibiotics

Ulf Emanuelson at the Department of Clinical Sciences has carried out a survey to learn more about dairy farmers’ attitudes to using antibiotics.


Hygiene work and policy for antibiotics use at the University Animal Hospital

The University Animal Hospital (UDS) is currently developing hygiene procedures.

UDS follows the Swedish Veterinary Association’s policy for antibiotics.
