Short summary
ForestAgriGreenNudge is a Horizon Europe–funded research project that uses behavioural science to develop and test “green nudges” that make sustainable decisions in agriculture and forestry easier, more attractive, and more feasible without restricting freedom of choice.
The ForestAgriGreenNudge project is a Horizon Europe-funded research initiative that focuses on advancing sustainable practices in agriculture and forestry through behavioural science. The project explores how subtle, positive interventions, known as 'green nudges', can influence the decision-making of farmers, foresters, advisers, and policymakers, encouraging choices that support environmental sustainability without limiting freedom of choice. Drawing on insights from psychology and cognitive science, these nudges aim to make sustainable actions easier, more intuitive, and more attractive.

The project reviews and evaluates existing Green Nudge initiatives to identify effective, ethically sound approaches. It also field-tests promising nudges, refining them through stakeholder engagement across agricultural and forestry value chains. Additionally, the project is developing the iNUDGE Academy, an online platform that will provide practical guidelines, implementation strategies and risk assessments, as well as creating a resource library containing examples and tools to support the adoption and adaptation of Green Nudges in practice.
The project brings together researchers, practitioners, and policymakers from across Europe to promote behaviourally informed solutions that contribute to more sustainable and resilient land management practices.
Funding for ForestAgriGreenNudge comes from the EU's Horizon Europe programme and UK Research and Innovation.
