As a distance student you are entitled to the same services and resources as other SLU students. You are also entitled to some additional services.

Let us know that you are a distance student

To benefit from the additonal services, i.e. home delivery and longer loan periods, you must contact the library to be registered as a distance student.

Off-campus access to online resources

As a SLU student you have access to all our online resources like databases, e-books and e-journals from home using the University VPN service.

Borrowing and requesting books

With our search tool Primo you find books owned by the SLU University Library. As a SLU student you automatically have a library account, and you can request books using your normal SLU login.

  • If you cannot come to one of our libraries, you can have the loans sent to your home address. Then you pay the return postage fee.
  • You will get a longer loan period to allow for the delivery.

You can also request a loan through your local library to save you the postage fee. Note that this does not apply to course literature with shorter loan period.

Requesting articles

You can request articles not available online by using our request form.

If you cannot come to one of our libraries, you can have the article sent to your home address. For articles from libraries outside SLU we will enclose a notice of payment.

Interlibrary loans from other libraries

When the literature you require for your studies or research is not available at the SLU University Library you can request an interlibrary loan. The easiest way to place your request is to use our request form.

If you cannot come to one of our libraries, you can have the loan sent to your home address. You return the book to the SLU University Library and pay the return postage fee.

Please note that it sometimes can be both quicker and cheaper to order an interlibrary loan through your local library.

Get help via chat or book a librarian

If you need help with searching or want to know more about our services you are welcome to contact us via chat, email or phone. You can also book a librarian for assistance. When you book a librarian, we can meet on campus or through an app like Skype or Google Hangouts.
