Requesting loans and articles
Here you find information on how to request loans and articles from the SLU University Library and other libraries.
This service is only open for students and employees at SLU.
Loans within the SLU University Library
To request books from the SLU University Library collections, use the library's search tool Primo. To place a request, you need to have an account at the SLU University Library.
As a student, you cannot request books that are available on the shelf at your own campus library. You need to pick up these books yourself.
Articles not available online can be requested through Libris.
Please note that as a student you cannot request articles that are available in print at your own campus library. You need to copy or scan these yourself.
Loans from other libraries
When the literature you require for your studies or research is not available at the SLU University Library, you can request an interlibrary loan. You make your request in Libris.
How to make a request in Libris
- Login to Libris. The first time you make a request you need to create an account in Libris. This requires a library account at the SLU University Library.
- Find the material you need and make the request, or go directly to the empty request form in Libris.

How will I receive the material I requested?
Employees in Uppsala, Skinnskatteberg, and locations without a campus library
Requested books and articles will be delivered to the postal address or e-mail registered in your library account.
Employees in Alnarp and Umeå
- Requested books:
- You will receive an e-mail when the book is available at the library. It should be picked up within four working days. Interlibrary loans need to be picked up from the library desk during staffed hours.
- Requested articles:
- Articles will be delivered to the postal address or e-mail registered in your library account.

Renewing your loans
You can renew your loans by logging in to your account with you Swedish personal ID number or library card number plus your four digit PIN code. As long as nobody else has requested the book, you can renew your loans during one year, after which the loan needs to be returned or shown at the library desk.
Interlibrary loans needs to be renewed by library staff.

Individuals, companies and organizations can borrow books and request copies from the SLU University library collections.
