Forestry in Central Sweden

The course is campus-based in Skinnskatteberg, with the 1^st week on the road in Dalarna and Härjedalen, and the 2^nd-5^th week at SLU in Skinnskatteberg. There is no written examination, and the course is based on active participation in the field. The majority of each day is spent outside, but there are some Canvas assignments including a forest management plan assignment in the 5^th week. The course is limited to a maximum of 50 students.

The course language is English, but can be Swedish if all students are comfortable with lecturing and assignments given in Swedish.

Accomodation: During the course, accomodation is free of charge, but participants are responsible for cleaning their rooms, kitchen, common areas, etc. Students must supply their own bedding (sheets, pillowcases, etc.) and towels. During the 1^st week, we stay in camping cabins (stugbyar) in Mora and Hede, Härjedalen (generally 4 - 6 students per unit). During the 2^nd - 5^th week, accomodation is provided at SLU Skinnskatteberg in the Yellow Pavillion (Gula paviljongen), two students per room.

Transport: During the course, transport takes place in rented minibusses (6 - 9 students per vehicle). SLU covers the rental fee for the minibusses, but students have to share the cost of the fuel themselves. This arrangement complies with the Forestry faculty’s standard routines for student travel during SLU-courses.
