Experimentellt studentprojekt i landskapsarkitektur

Course start on Monday January 17 will be at 10 am on Zoom!

Theme for this year's course is Flooding!

How can “we” mitigate negative effects on society, in relation to extreme weather conditions such as: sea level rise, storms, heavy rains and inundation, through landscape architecture. Your challenge will deal with mitigation, adaptation but also enhancing physical space in relation to accelerated climate processes.

Organisation of the course

The course is organized in three different phases: Explorations (I, IIa, IIb, III)), Project, and Communication. The course is principally student-led. Students work mostly in groups and with optional tutoring time with the course team.

Individual and group work: During the first two weeks of the course you will work with several assigned explorations in different and changing groups. This will give you the chance to know each other better, and to explore different methods together. After these first weeks you will find your group for the main project and for the rest of the course. You will also write individual reflections in relation to assigned explorations and to group project. In these reflections you will involve and use the course literature in a way that enhance your individual understanding and knowledge production in relation to experimental landscape architecture and the course theme.

Course team and guests

Professor Carola Wingren, Professor Hildegun Varhelyi and Lecturer Anna Lundvall.

There are a number of invited lecturers/tutors and also space in the schedule for you to invite.

Place and space

The course will be using Campus Ultuna in Uppsala and as well virtual space (zoom, concept board, canvas) for working and meeting during the course.

During the first half of the course (period 3a) the main working space for students is Ateljén at Ulls hus (until February 17). From February 18 (during period 3b) you will instead have the possibility to use the rooms D 224 and D236, also in Ulls hus.

Absence and/or late work will be excused only in certain situations. You can read more about what does and does not constitute a legitimate excuse in the Education planning and administration handbook found at: https://student.slu.se/en/rules-rights/rights-and-responsibilities/regulations/ (point 8.6).

COVID

Due to the actual covid-19 situation we have decided to make the teaching within the course on zoom/distance until further notice (hoping for a change in latter parts of the course).

Students can still use the space at campus, but must do it covid safe (distance, max 8 persons per room – see also university web page).

“Pin-up” will therefore be at concept board if nothing else is indicated.

The zoomlink that we will use for course start/teaching is https://slu-se.zoom.us/j/69650658520 Passcode: Experiment
