Information från kursledaren
Course Introduction
Dear all! On Monday we will kick off the course and we have eventually decided to host the course introduction online on zoom. https://slu-se.zoom.us/j/62137039416 (Links to an external site.) During the course introduction we will walk you through the following agenda points: Course call. Students and teachers, please let us know your name, background (where you are from and what you have studied before), and one take away from the course that you are hoping to achieve. Corona safety measures. (CD & MA) Course objectives and content. (CD) Course admin and communication. (MA) Specific info on literature seminars (NV), course structure and modules (MA), the assignment (CD), and what's the point (GL). Closer look on the upcoming week. In order to get to know each over a bit better we would really appreciate if you upload a photo and a short description about yourself on canvas. If you feel like it, please also add a short statement on your expectations on the course and what you are looking forward to have as take aways from the course. Looking forward to see you all! Welcome to the course "Planning project: Driving Forces and Contemporary Tendencies"
The urban landscape is changing rapidly. Large areas of post-industrial heritage are retrofitted into generic urban districts with little or no consideration to the site’s specific qualities or conditions, resulting in immense resources being wasted. What if there are other ways of transforming these sites, and what if such “other ways” also holds lessons for city building’s engagement with the Global Sustainability Goals and transformations of urban landscapes in general? These are some of the questions that we will explore in the course through lectures, site explorations, literature seminars, proposal developments, and more. We will work with a site in Malmö - Lokstallarna - an old rail yard site in the area called Kirseberg. In the course the concepts of “planning” versus “design” are scrutinized as well as the concepts such as “transformation”, “change”, “site” and “site specificity”. How are these concepts interpreted in contemporary landscape architecture? In what ways can design approaches in planning influence sustainability and have effects on the transformation of urban landscapes? What kinds of techniques for exploring site-specific qualities are available to us? And how do we convey and represent change actions that are beyond the conventional masterplans? A literature list is published on this course page, as is a preliminary schedule. Please keep an eye out for updates as we are getting closer to course start. See you in fall! The course team.

Kursen ger 15 färdighetstränande hp i landskapsarkitektexamen.
Betygsformer
