We look forward to seeing you later this autumn in the qualitative methods course LU0091. We are trying to figure out the new system of uploading literature lists to Ladok instead of Slunik, but meanwhile we post the mandatory literature here in case you want to prepare. In particular we will work closely witt the two books by Creswell& Creswell and by Robson (see full references in the list below)

Mål
Syftet med denna kurs är att förse studenter med nödvändiga kunskaper och förmågor för att kunna använda relevanta forskningsmetoder och tillvägagångssätt för analys av data, i syfte att producera klart strukturerade forskningstexter.
Efter avklarad kurs skall studenterna besitta följande förmågor;
välja relevanta forskningsmetoder i förhållande till ett specifikt forskningsproblem
använda dessa metoder i specifika kontexter och även göra relevanta etiska bedömningar
strukturera och skriva en akademisk forskningstext
presentera ett forskningsförslag för ett forskningsprojekt om rurala och/eller miljömässiga frågor, t ex rurala försörjningssystem och naturresurshantering, som även inkluderar en tematisk och teoretisk bakgrund
presentera en analys av publicerade forskningstexter, som handlar om rurala och/eller miljömässiga frågor, t ex rurala försörjningssystem och naturresurshantering eller miljömässiga problem
Innehåll
Kursen består av föreläsningar och övningar individuellt och i grupp.
Kursen ger studenterna förmåga att identifiera och välja ut metoder för att kunna planera och skriva en masteruppsats.
De forskningsmetoder som studenterna kan välja täcker kvalitativa forskningsmetoder, med ett fokus på primär datainsamling, via till exempel etnografiska metoder. Kvantitativa metoder, bland annat enkätundersökningar, kommer också att kort diskuteras. Kursens fokus är att träna studenter att skriva analytiskt och akademiskt.

Kraven för kursens olika betygsgrader framgår av betygskriterier, som ska finnas tillgängliga senast vid kursstart.Examinationsformer och fordringar för godkänd kurs
För att bli godkänd på kursen måste studenten delta i obligatoriska moment och lämna in de examen och övningar som är obligatoriska.
- Examinatorn har, om det finns skäl och är möjligt, rätt att ge en kompletteringsuppgift till den student som inte blivit godkänd på en examination.
- Om studenten har ett beslut från SLU om riktat pedagogiskt stöd på grund av funktionsnedsättning, kan examinatorn ge ett anpassat prov eller låta studenten genomföra provet på ett alternativt sätt.
- Om denna kursplan läggs ned, ska SLU besluta om övergångsbestämmelser för examination av studenter, som antagits enligt denna kursplan och ännu inte blivit godkända.
- För examination av självständigt arbete (examensarbete) gäller dessutom att examinatorn kan tillåta studenten att göra kompletteringar efter inlämningsdatum. Mer information finns i utbildningshandboken.
