PFG0070 Apply for your future: Jobs, grants, CVs and interviews, 1,0 Hp
The course is primarily intended for PhD students within the SLU Research School Organism Biology but will be open to other interested students and researchers, if space allows.
After completing the course the student shall be able to describe possible first steps towards finding a job within academia or industry after completing their PhD. The students will be able to write a CV targeted to either academia or industry and will know the differences. The students will be able to prepare for an interview situation.
The course will contain 2,5 days of intense lectures and exercises within the area of career planning, CV writing and preparing for an interview situation. Teachers will have experiences from within academia and industry and will highlight different aspects of applications, CVs and interview situations. Attendance at all teaching occasions will be mandatory. Prior to the course, students will be required to write their own CV, which will then be revised during the course.

Attendance and active participation at all scheduled activities. Students are required to send in an up-to-date CV before the workshop and will discuss CVs and get feedback on their own CV during group exercises.
Teachers within this course will have expertise within job coaching, recruitment for life science industry, body language, and applications and recruitment within academia, including both writing and evaluation of research proposals and recruitment processes at the University.
