The aims of the course are -To acquire basic knowledge in microbiology and handling of microbes -To achieve knowledge on microbial taxonomy and identification of microbes using culture dependent and culture independent methods -To understand basic mechanisms of relevance for microbial growth and proliferation in different habitats -To learn about methods to control microbial growth -To understand the multiple interactions between microorganisms and other forms of life (plants, animals, humans) and their impact in on environmental processes. After the course the student should demonstrate the ability to: -be in good command of the basic fact in microbiology as stipulated within the framework of the selected book chapters -assess given information and to elaborate on it in a constructive way -be able to make a synthesis of the discussed content and insights within the sphere of basic microbiological topicsInnehåll
