Foundational philosophy of ecology - an introduction
The course will consist of 5 seminars, reading and assignments.
When finalizing the course, participants will be able to:
- List and describe central concepts in theory and philosophy of science related to ecology
- Describe and discuss central questions to society related issues like; what is nature and how does this relate to biological conservation
- explain some possibilities and pitfalls at the intersection of science/scholarship and societal decision making
- describe and discuss the contents of some codes of professional conduct and their ethical underpinnings
- identify cases of scientific misconduct and suggest strategies for dealing with suspected cases of misconduct.

The main aim of the course is to discuss fundamental questions underlying the field of ecology and how they affect ecological research and its application. The course will discuss some basic philosophy of science and ethics, but will be mainly focusing on ethical related to the foundational philosophy of ecology.Innehåll
