Praktisk röntgenkristallografi
The course will provide insights into most important theoretical principles in understanding and description of the structure of solids. It will also provide practical training for implementation of these principles and obtaining high quality raw data, solving and refining the structures in order to produce high-quality data for publication. In a series of lectures, the principles of construction of crystalline solids and analysis of symmetry, symmetry elements, point and space groups will be presented. The approaches to data collection and treatment in X-ray diffraction will be summarized. Algorithms for solution, refinement and preparation of data for publication will be discussed. Detailed introduction to the applied program packages will be presented. The students will have to do 3 individual projects, treating raw data for structures of low, intermediate and high symmetry.
