Orthopaedic diagnostics in animals
The course comprises lectures on and literature studies of clinical orthopaedics (with comparative aspects from the human field), how to assess lameness, diagnose and treat common orthopaedic problems in our animals. By lectures, seminars and practical training the background and principles of objective tools for assessment of lameness in clinical practice and research will be presented. These tools will be demonstrated and taught practically. Welfare issues related to locomotor problems in animals will be covered in lectures and seminars.

Admitted to a postgraduate program in animal science, biology, veterinary medicine, food science, nutrition, nursing, or related subjects, or to a residency program in veterinary science.Mål
After completing the course the student shall be able to: - describe briefly the anatomy of the locomotor apparatus - describe how to assess movement in lame animals - describe techniques to measure locomotion in lame animals that can be used in clinicalpractice. - describe a lameness workup in horses, including common activities as lungeing, flexion tests,ridden exercise, diagnostic analgesia - describe a brief overview of the pathophysiology of common orthopaedic disorders inanimals - describe a brief overview of imaging techniques for common orthopaedic disorders inanimals - describe a brief overview of treatments/rehabilitation options for common orthopaedicdisorders in animals - describe welfare issues related to locomotor problems in production, companion and leisureanimals in animalsInnehåll
