Agricultural landscape

FOCUS. The programme is intended to provide an overall picture of environmental quality in the agricultural landscape. The results will be used to improve monitoring for the environmental quality objective A Varied Agricultural Landscape, and will also yield data for evaluating the effects of the EU agricultural policy (environmental impacts and payments), as well as the EU Habitats Directive.

Åke Berg, coordinator:

Åke Berg, coordinator of the Agricultural landscape programme in SLU´s Environmental monitoring and assessment.

”We need tried and tested quality indicators to ascertain that conservation measures and environmental compensation are helping to create a varied agricultural landscape. The programmes for monitoring small biotopes and environmental assets in meadows and pastures reinforce SLU's role. The next step is to develop methods and analyses for various types of soil and substrate, and for the landscape as a whole.”
