Biodiversity

FOCUS. The programme is intended to monitor and analyse the state of Swedish biodiversity. In the near term proposals are made for new initiatives to strengthen national coordination and competence development. Findings are intended to support efforts to achieve the relevant environmental objectives and provide a basis for monitoring of compliance with the Biodiversity Convention, the EC Habitats and Birds Directives and other international commitments.

"We need to obtain a better overall picture, all ecotypes and species in the country, and also improve our focus on red-listed species, where targeted initiatives are often needed if we want them to survive in Sweden in the long term."
