Surgery for horses

Page reviewed:  12/09/2025

If your horse has a planned surgery at our Equine Surgery Department, it is perhaps a good choice for the horse to, if possible, come here the day before the surgery. The horse will then have time to get used to the new enviroment and our staff can prepare the horse for surgery in more calm circumstances. Contact the Horse Clinic's reception to further discuss the day of arrival.

Before the surgery, the horse must remove its shoes. It is best if the shoes are removed before the visit, otherwise we will remove the shoes for a small additional fee at the Horse Clinic. Horses that visit the animal hospital for surgery do not need to bring their own feed, as we provide this on site.
