Markos aims to contribute to the development of a sustainable animal production system that will be of benefit both to the Swedish farmers and agriculture in general.
I am a licenced veterinarian from Aristotle's University of Thessaloniki (Greece) with a master’s degree in Animal Science from SLU.
I have worked in roles related to animal health such as veterinarian during an outbreak of Sheeppox in Lesbos (Greece) and a few months as a District veterinarian in Växjö, (Sweden). Additional to these roles, alongside my studies, I have worked as a research assistant both in Greece and Sweden.
Working as a researcher focusing on animal nutrition, health and the environment is one of my life dreams and is the reason I decided to move to Sweden and study at SLU. This position allows me to fulfil my dream and at the same time contribute to the development of a sustainable animal production system that will be of benefit both to the Swedish farmers and agriculture in general.
Through SustAinimal, and specifically through the investigation of the role of animals in future food production I aspire to contribute to the development of knowledge and know-how and thus improve the sustainability of food production. Climate change raises the need for a more efficient, environmentally friendly, and resilient food production system. A sustainable and resilient food production system is essential for current and future generations.
