SLU University Animal Hospital provides personalized training for dogs that need rehabilitation, as well as wellness care where we work preventively.
Dog rehabilitation – crucial for the final result
The rehabilitation department is a very important part of UDS orthopedics. Regardless of whether our orthopedic patients have been treated surgically or conservatively (without surgery), correct training is crucial for the final result. Under the guidance of a physiotherapist and rehabilitation nurse, patients with problems from the musculoskeletal system receive help with individually adapted training for the best possible return to function. The rehabilitation team works closely with UDS orthopedic veterinarians.
Gentle training with water treadmill
After an injury, training in our water treadmill can often be part of the treatment plan. The water's load-bearing capacity relieves the dog of its body weight, while allowing it to move functionally while maintaining ground contact. The water level, speed and incline of the treadmill are adjusted based on each patient's needs over time. Since most of the training takes place at home, our skilled rehab team also spends a lot of time educating you as a pet owner on how to best work with your pet at home.
Strengthen your dog with physiotherapy
Many owners with active dogs regularly come to our physiotherapist for a review of their dogs. It is a very good investment to be able to help the dog strengthen any weaknesses and prevent injuries, or detect and be able to fix minor injuries in time.
