About us
At the Clinical Pathology Laboratory at SLU University Animal Hospital (UDS), we work with the animals' well-being as our top priority
We are a veterinary medical specialist laboratory that analyzes biochemical, endocrinological, hematological, and cytological samples. We use validated methods and possess broad expertise, along with extensive experience in analyzing samples from animals.
We work in close collaboration with the Department of Clinical Sciences at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) and serve as the routine laboratory for the university animal hospital. This provides us with broad experience in veterinary care. Our veterinarians hold or are training towards specialist qualifications in clinical pathology (DipECVCP). Our biomedical laboratory scientist (BMA) and other staff members possess extensive knowledge and experience in veterinary diagnostic analysis.
We receive samples from veterinarians and researchers across the country and perform analyses for the university animal hospital. We are actively engaged in the development of veterinary diagnostic methods. This includes validating methods for different animal species before implementation, establishing reference intervals, and creating species-specific controls for our analyses. In addition, we participate in several external quality control programs.
Adjacent to SLU’s University Animal Hospital's new, state-of-the-art facilities is the Clinical Pathology Laboratory. We support veterinarians and veterinary nurses daily with our expertise in everything from clinical pathology to sampling and interpretation of results. Our work environment is dynamic and adaptable, with a strong focus on collaboration and continuous development.
At the university animal hospital, we educate the next generation of veterinary nurses and veterinarians. We are also a valued internship site for BMA students. In addition to daily routine work at the laboratory, our staff are involved in both teaching and research. This keeps us at the forefront of developments in veterinary medicine, and we at the Clinical Pathology Laboratory are proud to contribute to the advancement of education and research in the field.
We are driven by curiosity, a desire to make a difference, and a commitment to delivering world-class veterinary care!
