Get DOI, ISBN and number

Page reviewed:  25/04/2025

On this page you can request DOI, ISBN and serial numbers for publications published by SLU. DOI and ISBN are persistent identifiers. They help to disseminate your publication and allow it to be found and accessed in the future.

The DOI, ISBN and serial number must be visible on the publication. You must therefore request these before finalising the publication and uploading it to the publication database (SLUpub).

DOI (Digital Object Identifier)

All publications published electronically by SLU through SLUpub can be assigned a DOI. A DOI acts as both a unique link and an ID for the publication. It is only activated once the publication has been published in SLUpub.

You can also obtain a DOI for datasets you wish to publish:

ISBN (International Standard Book Number)

  • Mandatory for doctoral theses and licentiate theses.
  • Also recommended for books and can be used for reports.
  • If the publication is both printed and published electronically, it must have two different ISBNs – one for each format.

Part number in series

Part numbers must also be requested for the following series:

  • Acta Universitatis agriculturae Sueciae (doctoral theses)
  • Landskapsarkitektur, trädgård, växtproduktionsvetenskap : rapportserie (the LTV faculty report series)
  • LTV-fakultetens faktablad (the LTV faculty fact sheet series)
