Eye temperature as an indicator of stress in Icelandic horses

Aim: The aim of this study is to validate eye temperature as a measure of stress in horses. The objective is to investigate the relationship between eye temperature, HR/HRV and behavioural indicators of fear in Icelandic horses. Together with the research group, you will perform behavioural tests, collect HR/HRV as well as eye temperature (IRT), construct an ethogram and perform behavioural observations from recorded footage. The data collection will take place during week 4-5 of 2024 on a farm located in Mariefred (between Södertälje and Strängnäs). Transportation can be arranged from Uppsala/Stockholm.

 

 

Fakta:

Qualifications: Highly motivated student at master’s level with a background in animal science, veterinary science or other relevant field. Practical horse experience and studies in ethology are prerequisites.
