How do I apply for a programme or course?

Page reviewed:  26/02/2026

Here, you will find information about how to apply and reply to your admission decision. Programme students must also apply for the next semester's courses.

How to apply

You apply for courses and programmes at SLU by creating an account and logging in at universityadmissions.se.
If you are already a student at SLU, this is how you apply for your programme courses:

1.    Click Log in on universityadmissions.se.
2.    Select University account and then Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences in the drop-down list.
3.    Enter the five-digit codes for courses on your programme, for example SLU-12345.
It is important that you apply in time. The deadline depends on the course you are applying for. Read more about key dates and deadlines.

Reply to your admission decision

If you are admitted or placed on the waiting list after the first admissions round, you don't have to reply to your admission decision to accept your place to keep it. This does not apply to summer courses. Follow the instructions in your admission decision, which you can find on My pages at universityadmissions.se.

If you have been admitted to a programme and have accepted your place, you can find more information about the start of the course, timetable and reading list on the programme and course pages.

If you have been admitted but want to decline your place, you can do so at universityadmissions.se.

Submitting a late application

SLU closes registration for courses after the deadline. It is particularly important that you register on time as you cannot make a late application until 15 July for the autumn semester and 15 December for the spring semester. This also applies if you have been admitted to a programme and are taking programme courses.

Late applications are ranked according to the date you applied, not the number of credits or grades. It is therefore difficult to say how likely it is that you will get a place by submitting a late application.

Please note that your application is not complete until you have sent any supplementary qualifications to:

PostNord Strålfors AB
Att: Antagningsservice
R 312
190 81 Rosersberg

If you are studying on a programme, you must apply for the next semester's courses even if you have no real options. This is to confirm that you intend to continue studying and to allow us to verify that you fulfil the entry requirements for the upcoming courses.

Application and tuition fees

Applicants who are not citizens of the EU, an EEA country or Switzerland pay registration and tuition fees for Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes. Swedish citizens do not have to pay application or tuition fees. Fee-paying students must pay the tuition fee before they can start their studies. Read more at universityadmissions.se.

Non-EU/EEA/Swiss citizens may be exempt from paying tuition fees.

Deferment - postponing the start of your studies until next year

If you have compelling reasons, such as illness, you may be able to defer (postpone) the start of your studies until the following year.
You must then accept the offered place, and email the application for deferment to admissions@slu.se, or send it to:

SLU
Division of Student and Academic Services
Box 7010
750 07 Uppsala

Attach supporting documents.
Questions about deferment should be addressed to SLU’s Admissions Office.
