Entry Requirements
Requirements for entry to the Agricultural and Rural Management Bachelor´s Degree Programme, and the equivalent of at least 50 credits, including at least
- 35 credits Agricultural Science
- 15 credits Business Administration.
Objectives
The course gives training in overall view and ability to combine knowledge in different subjects concerning enterprise in the area of activity of the agriculture.
On completion of the course, students will be able to:
- identify, use, understand and develop various aids within financial control and marketing,
- demonstrate the ability to plan, present and describe the development of a business,
- understand, analyse and present overarching issues on the conditions for business activities,
- understand the meaning of economic, ecological and social sustainable enterprise.
Content
The course utilises different types of instruction to promote both teacher-supervised knowledge dissemination and student activity and discussion through lectures, literature studies, exercises and seminars. One group project must be carried out and presented in writing and orally. This project involves developing operations within a business (financial management, marketing etc.). Another project in small groups requires you to apply financial tools such as cash flow analysis in an actual company. Collaboration with the surrounding community is highlighted through external lectures, seminars and study visits. The course is divided into four parts, which are examined separately. These four parts are:
- financial control (investment calculations, financing, overall planning, cash flow analysis, financial analysis and cash management), 7 credits,
- marketing (marketing planning, SWOT analysis, pricing strategies, pricing, supply chains, marketing etc.), 5 credits,
- a project in financial control and marketing, 2 credits,
- an assignment in financial control and marketing, 1 credit.
The course is comprised primarily of lectures, assigned readings and the use of modern computer applications. Students will also have some assignemnts, study visits and participate in seminars.
The following moments in the course are obligatory:
Written exams, assignments and participation during course events in addition to those already mentioned.
Collaboration with the surrounding community takes place through several study visits and a close collaboration with Partnership Alnarp.
Examination Formats and Requirements for Passing the Course
Passed exams, passed oral and written presentation of projects, passed submissions and active participation in scheduled compulsory parts.
