Other Information
Discontinued practice
A student may receive a fail grade and be stopped from participating in the practical training with living animals if there is a tangible risk that the student, through severe incompetence, could injure animals, other persons, themselves, or valuable property if they continued to participate in the practical training. An individual action plan will be prescribed for the student and served to them in writing. The plan will be established by the department responsible for the course after consultation with a study counselor and the student concerned. This plan, which is decided by the programme director of studies, should indicate which deficiencies in knowledge and skills the student has, which kind of support the student can receive from the department, and when a control can take place that the deficiencies have been resolved. The plan will also specify how this control will be carried out. Each student has the right to a maximum of two control occasions, but no more than one per year. The student may not take part in practical training with living animals until the programme director of studies has controlled and confirmed that the student has the knowledge and skills that are required.
Risk assessment
The course contents physically demanding compulsory components, and parts of the compulsory teaching are carried out under field conditions. Compulsory teaching is occasionally conducted in environments where infectious agents and allergens are present. Pregnant students are asked to contact the course leader for an individual risk assessment before starting practical teaching.
Costs
Costs for travel and living expenses associated with external practical training may occur.
Waiting period
After a visit abroad with animal contact, a waiting period applies for participation in practical exercises in animal environments. Students planning a trip abroad are responsible for contacting the course leader well in advance of the start of the course to determine the waiting period.
Evaluation
The student's development is continuously evaluated in connection with clinical placements/external practical training. Students who are at risk of a failing grade shall be notified of this at a specified time during the module. A form established by the examiner shall then be used.
