Entry Requirements
60 credits business administration of which 10 credits organizational theory and 10 credits marketing.
Objectives
The aim of the course is to provide the student with in-depth knowledge in organizational theory, marketing and sustainable development. These perspectives are applied to quality and environmental problems in companies and other organizations. The course will also contribute to the development of academic skills, including critical thinking, discussion, oral as well as written presentation and the ability to collaborate in groups.
After the course, the student should be able to:
- Apply organizational theory to discuss and critically reflect on problems related to quality and environmental objectives within companies and other organizations. The student should also be able to propose and argue for sustainable solutions of these problems.
- Apply marketing theory to discuss and critically reflect on problems related to quality and environmental objectives within companies and other organizations. The student should also be able to propose and argue for sustainable solutions of these problems.
- Discuss the connection between problems related to quality and environmental objectives from environmental, social and economic perspectives.
- Account for the design, application and audit of a quality and environmental management system, as well as explain and apply terms and models within quality and environmental management.
- Discuss methods, conditions, driving forces and obstacles to conducting sustainable quality and environmental work within different organizations.
Content
The course is carried out with lectures, seminars, exercises and project work. The work is carried out both individually and in groups.
The course is based on:
- Organizational theory such as leadership, motivation, culture and organizational change.
- Marketing theory such as communication, brand management and relationship building.
- Environmental, social and economic perspectives on sustainable development.
Based on this, the student will be asked discuss and critically reflect on:
- Organizations’ quality and environmental problems.
- Practical examples of quality and environmental work within various organizations and stakeholders for this work.
- Management standards, with a focus on the design, application and audit of the quality and environmental management systems ISO 9001 (quality) and ISO 14001 (environment).
- Methods, conditions, driving forces and obstacles for quality and environmental management within different organizations.
