Knowledge equivalent to general entry requirements, and specific entry requirements equivalent to:
• Mathematics 3b or 3c or Mathematics C

Objectives
The aim of the course is for student to attain basic knowledge of landscape information and its use in physical planning as well as knowledge about the analysis of the structure of the landscape and land-use along with associated ecological, heritage and visual values.
After completing the course the students will be able to:
- describe planning processes at various levels and be aware of actors at central government, regional and local government level.
- independently search for, make a written compilation of and communicate landscape information from national and international data sources on the basis of issues formulated by the student him/herself
- carry out landscape analyses independently on the basis of the data given using digital tools like GIS.
- write a full scientific paper based on their own choice of issues and method.
Content
The course contains individual exercises in GIS software amongst other things. The student attains knowledge about different projects and gets practical knowledge about landscape analysis as well as about landscape information as such. Exercises are interspersed with lectures in methodology, about actors within the landscape and planning instruments & legislation connected to e.g. comprehensive planning. Within the frame of the course there are study visits and seminars processing both literature as well as on how field data is to be treated and analyzed. The course also gives insights on how to use the services of the library.
Scheduled excercises and literature seminars are mandatory.
