Entry Requirements
Knowledge corresponding to 15 credits of program courses within the master’s program in food science.
The prerequisite can also be met in other ways that provide equivalent knowledge.
Objectives
The purpose of the course is for the student, based on previously acquired knowledge, to independently plan, carry out and present an academic study within a given time frame. Through the independent work, the student must further develop their skills in the academic work process and significantly deepen their subject knowledge.
After completing the course, the student should be able to:
- apply and utilize the knowledge acquired during the program, in order to solve a task independently
- show an in-depth study of the subject in the field of food science
- critically and analytically reflect on various aspects of food science
- both orally and in writing convey information correctly, well-structured and interesting
- independently and creatively identify and formulate scientific issues
- independently search, compile, evaluate and critically interpret relevant information and literature
- independently plan and with adequate methods carry out a scientific study within a given time frame
Content
The degree project is carried out individually and consists of independent work which means that the student works with a problem related to food science. This is preferably done at a regulatory authority or at a food producer.
Seminars on working methods, as well as written and oral presentation are included.
The work is presented orally and in writing at a seminar for colleagues, supervisors and examiners. Each student must also act as an opponent in another student’s oral presentation.
Examination Formats and Requirements for Passing the Course
Passed oral and written presentation of the degree project and approved opposition of another student’s work.
