Plant Breeding and Plant Physiology
Course description
This course is intended for you who want to learn more of plant breeding, genetics, and plant physiology, and understand how different environmental factors influence plant growth and development. The knowledge acquired during the course is important both for crop production and for the development of new plant varieties that are better adapted to future challenges, such as climate change.
During the course, you will learn about the biological functions of plants and how new and improved plant varieties are systematically developed. You will learn about genetics and how genetic knowledge is applied to develop plants with desirable traits, e.g. higher yields, improved disease resistance, and climate adaptation. You will also gain a deeper knowledge about important physiological processes in plants, including growth and development, and how plants respond to different forms of stress. Fundamental biological knowledge is integrated with current research and practical methods in plant breeding and plant physiology.
This is an inspiring course that provides you with the knowledge and tools needed to contribute sustainably to the development of future agricultural and horticultural crops.
