Page reviewed:  20/03/2026

This page provides essential information for new students enrolled in distance-learning programmes or courses. You will find details about our orientation programme and roll-call day. Please check back often, as we will keep this page updated with the latest information.

The orientation programme 24-28 August 2026

During the orientation programme, you will receive valuable information about Sweden and studying at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences. The programme is designed for international master's and bachelor's students, as well as exchange students. While attendance is not compulsory, we strongly recommend that you take part, as it provides essential insights into studying in Sweden, along with the opportunity to meet fellow students and enjoy some fun activities.

The orientation programme will be organised partly online and partly on campus.

A schedule will be published here at the beginning of May.

The roll-call day - 31 August 2026

If you have been admitted to a master's programme the first day of the semester is 31 August.

Attending roll-call day is compulsory for all newly admitted programme students. Compulsory attendance at digital roll-calls applies to students admitted to distance learning programmes.

Exceptions are possible if a student has special reasons for not attending. Students who cannot attend and have special reasons must inform SLU of this by emailing admissions@slu.se no later than 09.00 on 31 August. If you stay at home due to special reasons, you are also encouraged to contact your programme director of studies. You can find the contact information on the programme page.

Detailed information will be published here in June.

Admitted to a distance-learning course?

If you have been admitted to a freestanding course, you can usually register online. Online registration will open in Ladok one week before the course starts. To register online, you first need to activate your student IT account (see "How to activate your student IT account" in the checklist). If you cannot register online, your teacher can register you at the first lecture.

You will find your course schedule on the course pages.

You are welcome to attend the orientation programme, see information above.

SLU campuses
