Multiple-use forest management aims to achieve an optimal balance between different uses of forest resources. Is comparison between different uses possible or is it like comparing apples and oranges? In this lecture Peichen Gong will explain how economic analyses can help to improve multiple-use forest management.

Peichen Gong will talk about three issues concerning multiple-use forest management:

  • Trade-offs between different uses (how to estimate the trade-offs and how they can be used)
  • How to find the optimal balance between different uses (preferences and non-market valuation)
  • How to achieve the optimal balance between different uses (policy instruments)

Speaker is Peichen Gong, Professor at the Department of Forest Economics, SLU.
