Statistics and healthy roots

seminars, workshops |

You are most welcome to the next Crop Production Ecology seminar. As usual we meet in Tammsalen or via Zoom. We have three exciting talks on the various expertizes in our department. Please feel welcome to join!

How to perform type-3 hypothesis tests in R – Johannes Forman

It is commonly believed that if a two-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) is carried out in R, then reported p-values are correct. In a recent article, it was pointed out that this is not always the case. In this presentation, we will sort out which R functions compute correct type-3 tests in linear models, and which ones do not.

The article: Al-Sarraj R. and Forkman J. (2023) Notes on correctness of p-values when analysing experiments using SAS and R. Plos One 18: e0295066. https://doi.org/10.1371/journal.pone.0295066.

Healthy Roots (HeRo): an assessment of root system architecture in Swedish winter wheat – Jonathan Cope

Crop root systems are central for the uptake of plant nutrients, disease resistance, and resistance to extreme weather. The SLU Grogrund funded project Health Roots (HeRo) is studying the root system wheat and its significance for the adaptation to different environments, with relation to uptake of nutrients and disease resistance. This presentation will present some of the findings from this project, as well as discuss the future stages of the project, branching out into other cropping systems.
