Welcome to the One Health Breakfast Club 11 March between 8.00 and 9.00. You get a short inspirational talk, some breakfast, and a chance to meet and have transdisciplinary discussions with SLU colleagues. The last sign-up date is 4 March. See you there!
Each Breakfast Club starts with a short inspirational talk, and then it's up to you to mingle and take the opportunity to enjoy interesting transdisciplinary discussions and initiate new collaborations. Whether you see yourself as a One Health researcher or not, we promise you'll find something relevant. Almost all of SLU's research interests are linked to One Health!
In the context of the UN’s Decade of Ecosystem Restoration (2021-30), countries around the world are scaling up efforts to restore degraded forests for biodiversity conservation and climate action. This presentation will examine how forest and landscape restoration can also help to support health and well-being of people and livestock in resource dependent communities. I present preliminary findings from a current research project in the Himalayan region of India & Nepal that examines how restored landscapes contribute to diets of humans and animals alongside other dimensions of subjective well-being. I outline ways in which a “one health” perspective can help to strengthen joint human and environmental benefits from the restoration of rural landscapes in the global south.
