Amare Teklay Hailu
Amare is a postdoctoral researcher working on environmental and resources economics issues using experimental and behavioral economics approaches and machine learning tools. His main research areas include payment for ecosystem services (PES), common pool resource (forest) management, behavioral economics, agent-based modeling and complexity economics.
Presentation
Amare earned his PhD from the Norwegian University of Life Sciences (NMBU) in 2018. His PhD study focused on development and environmental economics. Having grown up in nature-dependent poor village in Ethiopia, Amare has witnessed his village turn from green to grey in a few years. Intuitively, he knew that villagers cannot NOT cut trees as they are highly dependent on forest products.
