Eduardo Pinela

Eduardo Pinela
Active in research on the microbiology of anaerobic processes and fermentation technologies both to produce added-value compounds as well as biomass for different industries.

Presentation

My project concerns direct interspecies electron transfer (DIET) between syntrophic acid-oxidizing bacteria (SAOB) and hydrogenotrophic methanogens and its links to floc formation and increased biogas production in industrial settings. My main drive as a researcher is to efficiently utilize the resources that there are available and to, through metabolic processes present in microorganisms, convert them in added-value products applying, whenever possible, a circular-based model of utilization of resources and products.

Teaching

Student of Teaching in Higher Education, course assistant in Genetics, Cell Biology and Microbiology (course BI1278) and tutor in different subjects and levels of education.

Research

You will find all information about my current project in the following link: https://www.slu.se/en/departments/molecular-sciences/research-groups/microbial_biotechnology/project-synag/

Environmental analysis

Research important for the environment given the potential that biogas has to replace fossil natural gas and its very low environmental impact (could even be emission-free depending on the substrate used).

Cooperation

Cooperation in some research experiments with Tekniska Verken i Linköping, AB.
