Research
My research mainly revolves around how organic contaminants/compounds are degraded by microorganisms in soil, and the development and testing of different proactive strategies to prevent contamination of soil and water.
For a long time a special focus of mine has been on weed control on railways. I assist the Swedish Transport Administration by evaluating and doing risk assessments of chemical herbicides as well as alternative methods that are used or could potentially be used on Swedish railways.
Another area that I work on is the use of biochars as cheap adsorbents for reducing leaching of pesticides and nutrients from point sources in agriculture, and studies of how amendments of biochars to agricultural soil affect the environmental fate of pesticides.
